" Cry me tears of joy, touch the sky " great lyric!

It was probably Blood Sweat & Tears that arrived before Chicago, the David Clayton Thomas > Al Kooper led ensemble, and perhaps a touch of Maynard Ferguson thrown in for good measure.

dead right - the first BS&T album with Al Kooper is an amazing record. Great songs.

"Child Is Father To The Man" is an amazing Al Kooper album. BS&T without Al took it to another level.
